An Auctioned Ferrari Sold for €6.250 Million in Moranello

Several Ferrari automobiles were recently auctioned by Sothebyâ??s/RM Auctions at Moranello, Italy which generated for them a handsome sum of â?¬32 to â?¬35 million ($43 million to $47 million). The new record auctioned sales for a Ferrari was set toward the end of the event when an anonymous telephone bidder has offered a jaw dropping bid amounting to â?¬6.250 million ($8.43 million) that comes with a ten percent commission. The entire bid reached a $9-point-something-million-dollar sale.

The descriptive copy of the Ferrari in the auction catalog is Ferrari Leggenda E Passione which when translated in English means Legends and Passion. The Ferrari for lot 221 read: â??The 1962 Ferrari 330 TRI/LM Testa Rosa Spyder is the last of the most famous Ferraris. Testa Rosas won Le Mans, arguably the most famous automobile race in 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1962—A record that has never been broken.â?
